Big Little Lies

By Liane Moriarty

In case you hadn’t noticed, Big Little Lies Season 2 has just started over on Sky, and with a fabulous female cast it looks set to be a winner. But if you haven’t got time to catch up on the whole of Season 1, get up to date by reading the original novel.

Released in 2014 it made the New York Times Best Seller list before becoming an award winning screen hit TV series with an A list cast including Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Kravitz and Nicole Kidman. It really is gob-smackingly good.

If you haven’t discovered the series yet, this would make a great holiday read. With plenty of twists and turns throughout the storyline to keep you engaged, it’s part tense thriller, part humorous heartwarming tale. A brilliant take on ex-husbands and second wives, mums and their kids and lies that can turn toxic.

The book takes you through the various characters’ issues and how their lives become one complete entanglement – and the protectiveness and secrecy around a town scandal. You really fall for all the characters and particularly the female friendships unfolding throughout. There’s the funny and cute to the deeply messed up and each has a significant part to play. No plot spoilers, but it’s so worth packing this in your holiday suitcase.
